The Bunker
“The Bunker” is a photographic series developed over several years throughout Switzerland. It forms part of a broader exploration of how a territory, in seeking to reassure, can also enclose.
The title — The Bunker — works here as a metaphor: for Swiss neutrality, for its image of stability and refuge, but also for withdrawal, isolation, and the invisible boundary between inside and out.
This series is also tied to my personal history. I spent part of my childhood in Switzerland, and these images reflect a layered memory — one made of vast landscapes and a kind of interior silence. Through each photograph, I explore the link between protection and distance, between outward peace and underlying tension.
Bunkers, scattered across the Swiss landscape, serve as the core symbol. These concrete structures, embedded in mountainsides or on the edges of villages, are both visible and forgotten. They embody an ambivalence: ensuring safety while underscoring the possibility of threat. They speak as much of strength as of fear.
Through mountains, cities, forests, and lakes, I’ve tried to capture the hidden layer of a country often perceived as smooth and immaculate. The images shift between open landscapes and sealed enclosures, between nature and construction, between soft light and sharp lines.
The Bunker is not a documentary on Switzerland, but a study of the mental space it creates — a controlled, framed territory that comforts, yet also isolates.

« The Bunker » est une série photographique développée sur plusieurs années à travers la Suisse. Elle s’inscrit dans une exploration plus large de la manière dont un territoire, en cherchant à rassurer, peut également enfermer.
Le titre — The Bunker — fonctionne ici comme une métaphore : celle de la neutralité suisse, de son image de stabilité et de refuge, mais aussi du retrait, de l’isolement et de la frontière invisible entre intérieur et extérieur.
Cette série est également liée à mon histoire personnelle. J’ai passé une partie de mon enfance en Suisse, et ces images reflètent une mémoire stratifiée — faite de vastes paysages et d’une forme de silence intérieur. À travers chaque photographie, j’explore le lien entre protection et distance, entre paix apparente et tension sous-jacente.
Les bunkers, disséminés dans le paysage suisse, constituent le symbole central. Ces structures en béton, intégrées aux flancs des montagnes ou en lisière des villages, sont à la fois visibles et oubliées. Elles incarnent une ambivalence : garantir la sécurité tout en rappelant la possibilité de la menace. Elles parlent autant de force que de peur.
À travers montagnes, villes, forêts et lacs, j’ai cherché à saisir la couche cachée d’un pays souvent perçu comme lisse et immaculé. Les images oscillent entre paysages ouverts et espaces clos, entre nature et construction, entre lumière douce et lignes tranchées.
The Bunker n’est pas un documentaire sur la Suisse, mais une étude de l’espace mental qu’elle produit — un territoire contrôlé, cadré, rassurant, mais aussi isolant.
Une fiction de paix dans un monde saturé.
